End of the Quarter
Can you believe an entire one-fourth of the year is already over? Where does the time go? I'm 30,000 feet above the city of Chicago as I ponder this after having spent a surreal weekend there. So much can happen in the time it takes for a Caesium atom to split (exactly one second). A kiss on the cheek, a wave, a smile. I believe that time is our most precious resource and how we choose to spend that resource is pretty much everything. Money you can make or lose, but your time is finite. They say time flies and for the most part this is true but every once in a while, it doesn't and that actually isn't a bad thing. Every once in a while, time slows like molasses, its wings clipped and every moment drawn out and savored like a sip of wine, which in the drinking, you can taste all the years that went into its making. If you ever find a way to spend your time that feels that exquisite, you should consider spending more of your time doing that. You get a lot more bang for your chronon-buck. For me, this means flying back out to Chicago as often as I can. The songs pour out of you in a city like that. I'm looking forward to breaking ground on a new album later this year. The words and thoughts that will hold this next record together swirl in my head like the nimbus and cirrus clouds outside my window. Stay tuned. I promise to let you know when they touch down.
